What Markets North is
I'm Joe, an investor in Québec. For a while now I've written short market notes for a WhatsApp group of friends: what happened this week, what a headline really means, what an earnings report actually said. Markets North is that habit, published in the open, in English and in French.
I mostly follow the names behind AI: the memory-chip makers (SK Hynix, Micron, Samsung), the chip ecosystem around them (AMD, Intel, ASML), energy names tied to AI infrastructure like Bloom Energy, and big tech like Meta. Plus the Canadian side of investing: accounts, taxes, and mechanics that most US content never covers.
How to read it
- Figures are in US dollars unless I say otherwise. Most of these companies report and trade in USD.
- Rumour and denial travel together. If a story is unconfirmed, the company's own answer sits in the same paragraph.
- My position is on the page. Every piece about a stock states whether I hold it. Look for the disclosure line. It's always there.
- "I don't know" is a complete sentence here. Markets have honest uncertainty; so does this site.
