The fine print, in plain language too

Disclaimer

Short version: educational content only, not financial advice. I am not a financial advisor. Do your own research.

1. Educational content only

Everything published under Markets North (this blog, the videos, the short clips and the social posts) is educational and entertainment content: one individual investor thinking out loud about public markets. It is general information about how markets and companies work. It is not tailored to your situation, and it is not a recommendation to buy, sell, or hold any security.

2. Not a financial advisor

I am not a licensed financial advisor, portfolio manager, or securities dealer, and Markets North is not a registered advisory service. Nothing here creates an advisor-client relationship. Decisions about your money belong to you; for advice about your own situation, consult a licensed professional, in Québec, an advisor registered with the Autorité des marchés financiers (AMF).

3. No buy or sell calls

Markets North does not publish stock tips, buy/sell calls, price targets presented as recommendations, or personalized advice of any kind, in any format, including comments and replies. If you ever see content under this name doing that, it is not mine.

4. Position disclosure

Every piece that discusses a specific security states, in the piece itself, whether I hold that security at the time of publication. The same disclosure appears in video descriptions and social posts. I may buy or sell positions after publication without notice; a disclosure describes the moment of publication, nothing more. My holding a stock is never, by itself, a reason for you to buy it.

5. Affiliate links and sponsorships

Some links on this site (notably on the Tools I use page) may be affiliate links: if you sign up through one, the company may pay me a referral fee at no extra cost to you. Affiliate links are always labelled where they appear. Sponsored content, if it ever exists, will be labelled as advertising/partnership in the piece itself. No company can pay to be covered, praised, or ranked here.

6. Accuracy and sources

I work from public sources (company reports and filings, exchange data, and reputable news outlets), and I check figures before publishing. Markets move and errors happen: prices and facts in a piece were believed accurate at publication and may be stale by the time you read them. Unconfirmed reports are always published together with the company's own response, and labelled as reports, not facts. Corrections are made in the open and noted on the piece.

7. Risk

Investing involves risk, including the possible loss of the money you invest. Past performance of any security, index, or strategy mentioned here does not guarantee future results. Examples and stories are illustrations of a process, not promises.

8. A personal project

Markets North is my personal project, published under its own name. It is not affiliated with my employer or any business I work with, with any broker, or with any company discussed. Views expressed are mine alone.
