About

Hi, I'm Joe.

An investor in Québec, a marketer by trade, and the person friends text when a stock headline makes no sense.

My story

I live in Québec and I run a marketing business. That's my day job, and Markets North is deliberately separate from it. Investing is the hobby I never shut up about.

Like a lot of people, I follow the names building the AI era. My watchlist is heavy on semiconductors: the memory-chip makers especially (SK Hynix, Micron, Samsung), the equipment and design names around them (ASML, AMD, Intel), plus energy names tied to AI's power appetite, like Bloom Energy, and big tech like Meta. I got tired of coverage that was either written for professionals or written to sell panic, so I started writing my own notes: short, plain, numbers first.

Those notes went to a WhatsApp group of friends first. This site (and the videos that go with it) is the same notes, shared wider.

How I invest, in one paragraph

I buy businesses I can explain in plain language, I hold through noise when the business itself hasn't changed, and I let earnings reports, not headlines, settle arguments. October 2026 taught the group that lesson in public: a China oversupply scare knocked the memory names down hard, the big banks called the selloff overdone, the market didn't believe them for a week… and then SK Hynix's results came in ahead of expectations and settled it. I write about that story in the first post.

What I am not

  • Not a financial advisor. I hold no licence to give investment advice, and I don't give any.
  • Not a professional analyst. I'm an individual investor sharing his process. My read can be wrong, and when a fact changes, I say so.
  • Not selling you a system. There is no course, no paid group, no "one weird trick". If that ever changes, it will be announced in the open, and this page will be the first thing updated.
My disclosure promise: every piece about a stock states whether I hold it, in the video, in the description, and in the post. Every time. If I ever forget, call it out and I'll fix it the same day.
